No student who has less than 80% of attendance to his/her credit in a particular academic year shall be considered for promotion. Unauthorised absence for a period of 15 days or absence from the day of reopening continuous for a period of six days will result in the removal of the pupil’s name from the rolls without any intimation to the parent. Long absence may be condoned at the discretion of the Principal.

The School Assembly

The morning session except Friday begins with the assembly of all students and staff. During assembly, students are expected to observe proper decorum and solemnity befitting the occasion. At the end of the last period, the National Anthem is sung before the school is dispersed.

Scheme Of Evaluation Under CE

This is internal assessment mark based on criteria as per each subject classwise given by the Kerala state education board. The maximum mark under CE is 20 in +1 and +2. In +2 computer application and computerised accounting are the two SRI GUJARATI VIDHYALAYA HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL 2022-23 17 subjects with practical examination, maximum 40 marks is awarded for practicals in each subject.

Classes IX and X maximum 20 marks is awarded for subjects like Maths, English and Social sciences. And maximum 10 marks for Special English, Hindi, Malayalam, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and IT.

Classes V to VIII maximum of 20 marks is awarded for each subject.

C E marks are calculated in the following manner:

  • Learning process assessment: 5 marks
  • Portfolio assessment: 5 marks
  • Unit based assessment: 10 marks
  • TOTAL: 20 marks

Extra Curricular Activities

Adequate emphasis is laid on extracurricular activities so that children are offered ample opportunities to pursue their aptitude develop their creative talents and thus evolve into an all-rounder.

LIBRARY

We have a full-fledged library with books comprising of all subjects and titles which is for general reading and to inculcate reading habits in students. Other than the books in the library, each class have their own classroom library which is exclusively for that class. Newspapers, magazines, periodicals, journals are also provided.

LANGUAGES

English, Hindi and Gujarati are taught in addition to Malayalam. From class V children can opt for either Gujarati or Malayalam, whereas in +1 & +2 the option is between Malayalam and Hindi. It is compulsory for the Gujarati children to learn Gujarati.

Club Activities

To provide a holistic growth, club activities are provided to students. Different activities are scheduled for different classes weekly, this is a compulsory activity and grades will be provided. Teachers in charge of the clubs will give the schedule of their respective activities to the students.

For Parents/Guardians

  • The parents/guardians are expected to cooperate with the school authorities in enforcing proper discipline and ensuring better functioning of the school.
  • The school hours are from 9.00am. to 3.00pm. Late comers, without satisfactory reasons will not be permitted into the class.
  • Parents should periodically call teachers to enquire about and ensure the progress of their ward.
  • In case of a change of address or telephone number, the class teacher must be informed of the same immediately.
  • The circulars and notices etc. sent through the students may please be acknowledged in the space provided in the diary and attended to.
  • Non vegetarian food is not permitted in the school premises.
  • Students are not allowed to bring to school magazines, periodicals, posters, camera, transistors, cassette player, cassettes, I pod, CDs, I pads etc. without prior permission from the Principal. Finding such articles in possession of your ward, will result in the confiscation of the same and suspension of your ward.
  • CONFISCATED ARTICLES WILL NOT BE RETURNED.

  • The use of mobile phones by students is banned in the school. If any parent, for security reasons, wants his/her child to carry mobile phone to school, the following must be ensured.
    • Prior permission from the Principal is to be obtained.
    • Camera phones are not allowed.
    • Phones are to be switched off and deposited with the class teacher in the morning and taken after school is dispersed.
    • Mobile phones used by students in the campus without observing the above instructions will be confiscated and the same will not be returned.
      • Students are instructed not to bring to school and ride or drive motor cycle, scooter, car or any other motor vehicle in the school campus.
      • Parents are requested not to enter any class room during school hours.
      • Parents / guardians who wish to meet their wards during school hours, in emergency, must first meet the Principal who will then make necessary arrangements if he feels the meeting is important.
      • Parents / guardians who wish to meet teachers may do so during intervals in the school reception(lobby).
      • Parents / guardians are responsible for the proper completion of their ward’s home assignments. Those who come to school without completing their home work will not be permitted in the class.
      • The school will not take any responsibility legal or otherwise for accidents, injuries etc., sustained by the students at any time during their stay in the school including while taking part in sports, games or any such activity. The school will however take all steps and precautions to avoid accidents and such other happenings.
      • Under no circumstance Parents / guardians should dictate terms to the school authorities.
      • Parents / guardians are advised to carefully go through the progress card of their wards and sign and return the same within two days of its receipt.
      • Parents / guardians are expected to check their ward’s school diary daily and sign as token of having seen the remarks, if any.

      Leave Rules

      • Students should be regular in attending school, No leave of absence without valid reason will be sanctioned.
      • Prior sanction of leave should be obtained when leave is unavoidable. If leave is required for urgent or unforeseen reasons, leave application must be submitted on the next day.
      • All leave applications must be compulsorily signed by the parents.
      • Students who reach school after 9.00am. In the morning will be marked absent for half a day. Having come to school, no student shall leave the campus without permission of the Principal during school hours.
      • Half day leave, after coming to school may be granted only in extreme emergency and if Principal is convinced of the same.
      • If a student is absent on the reopening day of the school and continues to be absent for six consecutive working days thereafter, his / her name will be removed from the school rolls without any notice.
      • If a student is absent for 15 days without prior sanction of leave, his / her name will be removed from the school rolls without any notice.
      • Attendance on the reopening day of any vacation, school sports day, youth festival, school annual day or any function of the school is compulsory.
      • If a student is absent during any tests/ worksheets /examination, no re test or re-examination will be conducted, however, if the absence is on medical grounds, a medical certificate issued by an authorised government medical practitioner must be submitted along with the leave application.
      • Grant of leave will be at the discretion of the Principal.

      Withdrawal Rules

      Students on the roll may be withdrawn from the school after obtaining a transfer certificate. The application for transfer certificate must be submitted compulsorily signed by the parents, in the prescribed form available at the school office, at least 7 working days in advance. Parents are advised not to withdraw their wards during the academic session as far as possible. Along with the TC, Caution deposit will be refunded as cash.

      Transfer Certificate will be issued only after all the school dues are cleared in full.

      General Rules

      • Students are expected to come to school neat and clean in full school uniform. Students coming to school with untidy dress, hair etc. will be refused into the class.
      • During the rainy season (June&July)students are exempted from wearing shoes and socks. But they should wear black rain shoes / sandals. Slippers are not allowed.
      • While in school, it is compulsory for students to speak in English.
      • All Saturdays are holidays for all classes unless it is marked in the school calendar or otherwise announced.
      • Students are responsible for taking care of their belongings.
      • No student is permitted to bring to school expensive items like gold jewellery, costly and fancy watches etc. No chain, ring, bangle, anklet etc. is permitted in the school. However, girls may wear ear studs as specified under ‘Uniform’.
      • Boys are not allowed to grow or colour their hair, wear ear studs, fancy chains and hand bands and bangles. Boys without proper haircut with disfigured side locks/ whiskers will not be permitted in class. They are not permitted to grow beard.
      • Student’s letters, parcels etc. are subject to scrutiny by the Principal.
      • Students are to make good any damage done to property belonging either to school or to other students.
      • Students are not to throw papers or any waste materials on the floor, The waste paper baskets kept for the purpose should be used
      • Students from one class are not permitted to enter other class rooms.
      • Children suffering from any contagious or infectious disease will not be allowed to attend school.
      • Irregular attendance, habitual negligence in school work, dishonesty, obscenity in words or action, insubordination or any kind of unwholesome practice are sufficient reasons for dismissal from school.
      • A student who fails in a class for two consecutive years will be issued with transfer certificate.
      • Students, parents and guardians are bound by the School Rules in all respects and the decision of the Principal/ School Managing Committee is binding on them.
      • School Rules may change from time to time.
